Robot Hunter at Red Bubble
Here we go with a futuristic robot hunter, with art for sale on Red Bubble, our website partner in print-on-demand.
The art itself has been created by Lobos, our resident BLAZE AI. Here, this hunter-killer (HK) robot has been visualised as a humanoid device, equipped with all-band sensors that enable it to look for its enemy by day or night.
Conceptually, HK was conceived as being in charge of a squad of specialised military-grade robots, on a hunt to comb a kill-zone for signs of an attacking series of enemy drones. We’ve seen something of the same in movies such as the Terminator series, but it might well become real-life sooner than we think.
In fact, I talked about AI and robotics back in the 1970s with my book Robots. But (and especially as it was an educational book) I didn’t concentrate on the military side of things.
So I said, “…the prospect of intelligent machines should be little cause for fear. A man-machine partnership, each doing what it is best at, is more likely than that of mad robots taking over the world.
“The result could be just another step along the pathway of human evolution, perhaps an entirely new breed of man, better fitted to explore the universe.
“The human-shaped machine, a true robot, is possible but likely to be an unusual member in the ranks of the robots. Designed and built for specific functions, few robots will need exactly the same number or type of limbs as a human being.”
Back to the present, and our friends at Red Bubble. Initially presented as the cover design of a hardback journal book, our Lobos-created Hunter-killer is also available on various items, from phone cases and aprons, to acrylic blocks and wall-art, all in assorted sizes to fit your space. Take your pick.
The hardback (below) has 120 high-quality pages, a choice of plain, ruled or graph paper, and the mean-looking HK is a reminder that there’s no slacking in the Blazeverse!
